City of Port Phillip

In collaboration with Helen Bodycomb Mosaics and Julie Shiels as creative consultant. Five artworks were commissioned for seating alcoves along the promenade close to the walkway to the Port Melbourne pier. The works were created in sandstone, in-filled with ceramic mosaic and sandblasted black granite. Typefaces were specifically designed for the project, inspired from historic references such as the neon lettering on the Mission to Seamen building.

‘The artwork has more than fulfilled our project objectives of creating a subtle and beautiful work that illuminates the deep connection that long-term Port Melbourne residents feel about the area and its history as a point of arrivals and departures during the war'. City of Port Phillip
